Office 2007 Fails OOXML Test With 122,000 Errors

Das wird alles noch sehr lustig werden, vor allem für Microsoft. Hoffentlich war ihnen klar, dass ein ISO-Standard von der ISO gepflegt wird, und nicht vom Hersteller. Das wird ja dann noch “schlimmer” als jetzt schon:

“Groklaw is reporting that some people have decided to compare the OOXML schema to actual Microsoft Office 2007 documents. It won’t surprise you to know that Office 2007 failed miserably. If you go by the strict OOXML schema, you get a 17 MiB file containing approximately 122,000 errors, and ‘somewhat less’ with the transitional OOXML schema. Most of the problems reportedly relate to the serialization/deserialization code. How many other fast-tracked ISO standards have no conforming implementations?”

Um es mal wieder etwas umgangssprachlicher zu machen:

- Microsoft hat das neue Word-Dateiformat als Standard bei der ISO eingereicht
- diese hat dafür den sogenannten “Fast-Track”-Weg für die Evaluierung, ob das wirklich ein guter Industriestandard sein kann, gewählt
- diese “Abkürzung” beim Antragsverfahren nehmen üblicherweise nur solche Technologien, die bereits technisch vollständig implementiert und im Umlauf sind, aber eben noch kein Standard sind
- Office 2007 ist ungefähr so weit vom eingereichten OOXML-Standard entfernt, wie Australien von Grönland
